This mixed media self portrait is inspired by the beauty found in brokenness. Smooth lines and the illusion of perfectionis abandoned, as the artist tears found and discarded paper to create rough, and interesting edges. In a world where beauty is often defined by men who produce the media outlets, this piece explores what feminine beauty looks like from the lease of a broken and very real woman. Texture, tears, thrown out materials, like paper bags, all come together to create a deeper meaning to beauty. The kind of beauty that tells a story, and wears her scars like armor.
